I recently followed you on the same business social media page and I appreciate the interesting articles you provide for job seekers and how you interact with candidates. We also have a common interest regarding AI.

I'd love to schedule a call and talk with you further about the position and my experience. I have some availability on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday both next week and the following week from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST. You can email me at Josh.Numan@email.com or by phone at 555.555.5555. (First Name) Hi: and quick question about (Company Name)

Hi {{first_name}},

Hope you don't mind me reaching out to you directly.

I first heard about {{company}} from [[personalization about where I heard about them and/or specific info from their case study or recent blog post]].

To cut to the chase, the reason I'm writing is because I wanted to ask about your content projects at {{company}}. I saw that your latest blog update was last month, do you have any plans on growing it more?

I ghostwrite a lot of engaging, conversational, and SEO-fueled content (blog posts, copy, case studies, etc.) on all things digital marketing, eCommerce, growth-hacking, and more.

If there's any room for collaboration, I'd love to help you grow.

Here are a few of my ghostwriting samples on social media/email marketing if you'd like to get a sense of my writing style:

I've also worked closely with eCommerce (mainly dropshipping) and I'm interested in all things Facebook Ads / digital marketing - so I know my way around the niche quite well.

What do you think? I'd be glad to talk about this more in-depth or hop on a call if you have any questions/comments.

Thanks!

PS - feel free to redirect me to someone else if you're not the right person to ask about content projects at {{company}}.

Cheers,
Irakli

Include your relevant experience in one sentence, why you're interested in their company specifically (not "I'm open to opportunities"), and a clear ask: a conversation, a referral to the right team, or feedback on fit. Attach your resume or link to your LinkedIn, but don't make the recruiter do the work of figuring out why you're emailing. A cold email to a recruiter should answer "why this company" and "why me" in the first three lines.

When you have a specific connection to the role that won't come through in an ATS submission: a referral from someone at the company, deep experience in their exact niche, or a portfolio piece directly relevant to their team's work. Direct outreach supplements applications. It doesn't replace them.

Frame it as exploratory: "I've been following [Company]'s work on [specific area] and would like to learn about where the team is heading. If there's a role that aligns with my background in [skill], I'd welcome the chance to discuss it." This signals genuine interest without assuming a vacancy exists.

One follow up after 5-7 days. Add something new: a recently published piece of work, a certification you completed, or a specific reason the timing is relevant ("I noticed your team just posted a [related role]"). Keep it brief and professional. Recruiters manage hundreds of conversations. A follow up that adds new information earns attention. One that just says "checking in" does not.

Yes. While 33% of decision makers say they haven't replied to any cold emails in the past year, 67% have replied to at least one, according to Hunter's State of Email Outreach report. Recruiters fall into that receptive majority when the email is relevant to their open roles and demonstrates specific fit. A cold email to a recruiter that names the role, references a matching skill, and keeps the ask small has a real chance of starting a conversation.
